Jim is a well-traveled, highly educated, and accomplished photographer, producer, and educator. His workshops are designed to be both exciting and informative, appealing to adventurers, the curious, and professionals alike. Jim’s teaching methods are easy to understand, combining clear instruction with hands-on practice in lighting, camera settings, and working with models. The models he works with are approachable and professional, making the creative process enjoyable and productive. Participants consistently leave his workshops with some of the best images they’ve ever captured.
Jim, thanks for a fantastic workshop experience. I have gotten back into photography over the last year and a half after many years away from the craft. Eatonton is a five-plus-hour drive from me each way, but your workshop was well-organized, informative, and inspirational. I am so glad I made the drive. Your workshop was the best PPA workshop I have attended.
What made it special was your admirable team spirit, eagerness to share your extensive knowledge, and genuine desire to see everyone learn and improve. Your willingness to share your expertise was invaluable and greatly appreciated. The participants, workshop attendees, and models made it even more remarkable, and I could see why so many experienced photographers were willing to travel so far to attend. This old dog was able to listen and learn from all of them.
I have a new commitment to develop my photography and am looking to set three to four model shoots a month, thanks to the takeaways from the workshop. I am excited about the potential for growth and improvement in my craft. I got a couple of shots I will share with the models by the weekend.
I checked out the Peter Coulon workshop and looked at his stuff online. You are correct, he's fantastic, but it's out of my current price range. I was looking at the three-day trip to Austin, which is a little more affordable. We'll see what happens.
Thanks for everything, and keep me posted on the next learning and shooting opportunity—best wishes to you and yours.

Attending Tytan workshops has been transformative for my photography journey. Each session consistently results in portfolio-worthy images, many of which I’ve successfully used to pitch my work to potential clients and collaborators. Several of these images have even gone on to be featured in galleries and printed publications. Beyond the stunning visuals, the real value lies in the skills and creative principles I’ve gained - foundational techniques and perspectives that now guide every shoot I undertake. These workshops have had a lasting impact on my artistic approach and creative output.
Jim’s workshops are topnotch. He and his colleagues are very knowledgeable, the equipment is professional and his models are wonderful to work with. You can’t beat the location inside a retired state prison. As a nature and sports photographer, the workshops have greatly increased my knowledge of studio work and on working with models.
Jim Stone rekindled my love and fascination with photography. I have always enjoyed taking pictures of landscapes and animals. Under Jim's tutelage in his workshops, I feel that I now can take exhibition worthy images that can stand toe to toe with those of professionals.
Over the last three years, as a member of the Peachtree Corners Photography Club, I have had the pleasure of attending several photography seminars put on by Jim Stone of Tytan Pictures.
Each session is a terrific blend of technical information (studio lighting, strobe lights and natural outdoor lighting with reflectors), with practical application, using several enthusiastic, energetic models with whom Jim has built professional relationships based on trust and respect. Their appreciation for his professionalism is obvious, and encourages those of us with much less experience, to emulate Jim's approach to the art of portrait photography.
Jim encourages each of us to always conduct ourselves with decorum and courtesy. His teaching style is straightforward, mixed occasionally with self-deprecating humor.
Whether you are a novice or a professional, you will enjoy learning from Jim Stone.
The photography workshops that Jim and Roxy Stone offer are not to be missed! Their deep expertise, clear teaching style, and genuine passion for the craft create an inspiring and practical learning experience for photographers of all levels. The beautiful models they bring give you a chance to create portfolio-worthy images, and get more practice directing talent. They love experimenting with new techniques, so whether it's throwing paint, using usual filters, a leaf-blower, or smoke from a can, you are sure to have a lot of fun while getting ideas on how to create more interesting images.
I've attended several workshops with Jim, Roxy, and the amazing Tytan Pictures team, and they never disappoint. They're incredibly knowledgeable and great at teaching. I always leave with valuable experience—and incredible shots for my portfolio.
